Hi Residents Family and Friends,

As many of you would have heard by now the Queensland Government in response to the developing situation at the Wacol Youth Detention Facility has instructed all Aged Care facilities in the Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay and Redland City to lockdown (https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/restricted-areas-covid-19) effective today at 8am.

We responded to this direction immediately and as such our Victoria Point facility is now locked down until we receive further information which will enable us to assess the potential risk of this latest COVID-19 outbreak.

At this stage we have not taken the decision to voluntarily lockdown any of our other facilities however depending on how this situation unfolds this may change in the next 24 hours.

We are advised that an updated Aged Care Direction is imminent and once this is released, we will of course review it and if necessary, implement any changes that are required. If you would like to keep abreast of these changes you can find the current Aged Care Direction at https://www.health.qld.gov.au/system-governance/legislation/cho-public-health-directions-under-expanded-public-health-act-powers/aged-care.

Aged Care Direction (No. 9) | Queensland Health

The purpose of this Part is to restrict contact between residents and non-residents of a residential aged care facility and direct measures that aged care facilities must put in place for visitors to the facility.

We apologise for the suddenness of this response but trust you understand that it is necessary to keep those we love and cherish safe. Thank you for your understanding and for working with our teams to achieve the best outcomes for everyone.

Your sincerely,
