Support at Home is a Government-funded program designed to help older Australians live safely, comfortably and independently in their own homes.

Through this program, Adventist Retirement Plus provides home care support to make everyday life easier, help you maintain your independence and deliver the care you need.

The program offers support ranging from basic assistance to more intensive care, so your services can grow and adapt as your needs change.

Services available under Support at Home:

Everyday living

such as help with cleaning, gardening, shopping, meal preparation, and other household tasks.

Independence

such as assistance with showering, taking medications, transport, or respite care.

Clinical care

such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other health-related supports tailored to your needs.

What is Support at Home?

From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government is introducing a new in-home care program called Support at Home.

The program will make it easier for older Australians to live independently at home for longer. It also aims to help people access the services, equipment, products and home modifications they need to stay healthy, active and connected to their community.

How can I access Support at Home?

New to Support at Home? You’ll need an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to get started. You can arrange this assessment by calling My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

After your assessment, My Aged Care will determine your eligibility for government-funded Support at Home services and assign funds for the appropriate level of support needed.

How are my Support at Home services and costs determined?

Your aged care assessment will determine which level of services (1–8) you are eligible for. Each level comes with a quarterly budget you can use for services.

Support at Home quarterly budgets range from:

Level 1: $2,750 per quarter or $11,000 annually
Level 8: $19,500 per quarter or $78,000 annually

The higher your level of need, the larger your package and the more the government contributes.

Will I need to pay for services?

Yes. Your contribution depends on your income, assets, and pension status.

Full pensioners pay the least
Part pensioners and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders pay a moderate rate
Self-funded retirees pay the most

Financial hardship assistance may be available if needed.

How much will I pay for different services?

Clinical care (e.g., nursing): Fully covered by the government – no contribution required.
Independence supports (e.g., showering, transport): Contribution ranges from 5%–50%, depending on your income.
Everyday living supports (e.g., cleaning): Contribution ranges from 17.5%–80%, depending on your income.

Nothing is too much trouble

“I highly recommend using Adventist Retirement Plus Home Care. Nothing is too much trouble for Jo and the Carers who help Mum with her day-to-day living. She has support with such things as washing, cleaning, showering, shopping and medication supervision, which leaves me to enjoy our time together. If Mum is unwell they are close enough to just pop in to check on her each day and I am able to take holidays with peace of mind that she is being well looked after. As a result Mum is happily living in her own home in the CARV village surrounded by her friends. Thank you to everyone in the Supported Living Unit. You all do an amazing job!”

Friendly, helpful, professional care

Eighteen years ago we realised that my husband would need care due to a problem with weakness in his legs and other health problems.

We moved to Capricorn Adventist Retirement Village (CARV) where we have been happy and contented ever since.

We knew no one here. We found the Retirement Village in the Yellow pages.

We required a place where my husband could continue woodwork which he enjoyed.

All Managers have been friendly and encouraging in our time at CARV.

Last year we were speaking to our neighbours and other friends in the Village who had a Home Care Plan.

We rang the Manager, Sone to make an appointment for information and help in the ongoing care that is now necessary.

Sone was very friendly, helpful , caring and business like, when Tony’s Care Plan was approved last December Sone visited us to discuss necessary help so that we can stay in our own home and remain independent.

We have found that we can ask any question re Tony’s care, and an answer is available straight away. We can phone or email our inquiries to Sone and her staff and receive a helpful, prompt reply. All staff are friendly, happy, caring people.

We are extremely grateful for this and appreciate and feel comfortable with the care received.

One of our friends kept telling us that Adventist Retirement Plus Home Care “have not put a foot wrong.”

We have found that to be true.
